Camera Forest - City Tones V1 (English)

Camera Forest City Tones

A Lightroom preset collection built for travelers — five city palettes drawn from the real light of New York, Toronto, Paris, Barcelona, and Kyoto.

Tone has never been about showing off a grading technique. It is evidence — the kind a photographer carries home after a city has quietly rewired the way they see light. This pack was sourced from hours spent standing in actual places: the dust-touched warm gold of a New York street corner, the milky cream of a Paris morning fog, the searing saturated orange-red of a Barcelona noon, the barely-pressed blue-gray I dialed into a Kyoto bamboo grove. The hope is simple — that through Lightroom’s color workflow, these presets help you make photographs that don’t just look beautiful, but hold onto what a city once made you feel. Images with the memory of travel, and the texture of cinema, woven through every frame.

CITY TONES · A STATEMENT

I don't believe a filter can reproduce a feeling. But I do believe this — that if a person stays in a city long enough, they will learn the way that city sees the world. And that way of seeing will stay in their eyes.

Key Features

CAMERA FOREST · LIGHTROOM PRESET COLLECTION

City Tones

  • Five signature city palettes — From the warm, dust-flecked gold of a New York street corner, to the milky cream of a Paris morning fog, to the barely-there blue-gray of a Kyoto bamboo grove. Five city-specific tones, each tied to a different travel narrative and emotional memory.
  • Light and shadow, rebuilt city by city — White balance, saturation, and shadow depth are micro-calibrated for each location, restoring the real light quality and the texture of the air as it was actually felt on the ground.
  • A workflow that disappears into your editing — Built to work seamlessly with both Lightroom Classic and Lightroom Mobile. One-tap apply, intuitive fine-tuning — so travel grading feels less like post-production, and more like finishing a sentence you already started.
  • A dual archive: story and color, side by side — Every preset is paired with a Creative Field Note — so what the viewer sees is not just the finished color grade, but the moment and the feeling the photographer actually lived inside that city.

This is not a filter. This is the light five cities left in me — New York, Toronto, Paris, Barcelona, Kyoto — five times I handed myself over to a place, and five things I carried home.

Why This Series Exists

Fifteen years as a photographer. In that time I have shot weddings, bridal portraits, families — the most important moments in other people's lives.
.

But travel and street photography is something else entirely, and it is the form I love most. No client. No brief. I stop walking only because a particular light makes me press the shutter.
.

And I have noticed that every city I visit moves to its own rhythm. Slowly, almost without deciding to, I began turning those feelings into color, and giving them back to the photographs I take. For me —

Color is the scent of a frame.

City Tonesholds the photographic feelings I have actually lived through.

No.2 — Low saturation, warm cream ,made to last through every season

TORONTO

Low saturation / warm cream / quiet

In October 2011, I sat in a park beside a Tim Hortons, looking out at this unfamiliar city. I had no idea then that over the next decade and more, it would weave itself into so many of my memories.

Toronto has always felt to me like a smaller, cleaner New York — modern high-rises quietly wedged between older churches and heritage houses.

If New York is the city that forces you to keep up, then Toronto is the one that lets you slow down — walking a little slower is fine here, even a touch lazy.

I especially love the autumn mornings here — when the leaves start to turn, and sunlight filters down through the canopy. It carries a warm-cream-tinted gentleness, the soft warmth of an autumn day.

No.3 — Faded cream · mist · time-touched

PARIS

Faded cream / misty atmosphere / film grain

Paris has never been the sugary romance of a postcard.

The French can stretch a single meal out to an hour or two — chatting, staring into space, all of it counts. Life here moves at slow speed, as if someone pressed the playback down to half.

The moment I remember most: standing at Trocadéro just past six in the morning, the sky still deep blue, light slowly arriving. Layer by layer, the Seine and the Eiffel Tower surfaced out of the dark.

Paris light carries a fine mist — soft, gentle. The khaki-yellow stonework takes on a cream tint, and even the shadows hold a quiet warmth.

Paris is beautiful — but not in the sweet way. It is the beauty that sinks in, the beauty that moves slowly, the beauty particular about texture.

No.4 — High Saturation · Terracotta · Mediterranean Light

BARCELONA

High saturation / terracotta-orange earth tone / Mediterranean light

When I first went to Barcelona in 2024, I arrived carrying no fixed image of "Spain." It was only once I was there that I realized it felt like France and Italy merged into one — narrow alleys pressed close to everyday life, yet steeped in historical weight.

La Sagrada Família — a church that has been under construction for more than a hundred years, and is still not finished. Standing inside, watching those lines and the way light moves through them, you understand: architecture, sometimes, is not space. It is time itself.

Barcelona's answer to me was direct — color bolder, saturation pushed higher, often carrying that terracotta-orange, earthen warmth.

》Lightroom Preset × 1 ・ Journal_Notes《Barcelona — Time Itself》》

No.5 — Faintest Blue-Gray · Washi · Breathing Space

KYOTO

Faintest blue-gray / washi texture / breathing space

Kyoto has always been the city I return to most often.

Walking its streets, I often come across beautifully preserved wooden machiya houses. Turn a corner down an alley, and a small shrine might be quietly tucked there — sitting still, undisturbed — while the rhythm of life around it moves with both order and deep tranquility.

The image I carry most: walking along the Kamogawa River in spring, when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom and the petals fall like snow.

Photographing here, you often sense a particular blue-gray quality, as if the city came with its own filter built in. Perhaps it has something to do with the textures of wood, paper screens, and stone.

Some kinds of beauty can only be seen by those who slow down.

》Lightroom Preset × 1 ・ Journal_Notes《Kyoto — Slow Down to See》

A piece of honest truth:

I have always believed that whether a photo looks good or not, lighting and composition are always the most crucial prerequisites. But even more important is what’s in your mind—or perhaps, the photographer’s original intent. What City Tones does is merely the very last step: infusing the photo with a sense of travel vibe.

City Tones — Color Presets of Five Cities

City Tones is a collection of travel presets I created for Lightroom, featuring five distinct cities: New York, Toronto, Paris, Barcelona, and Kyoto. To me, a preset is never just a technical adjustment—it is the lingering impression left behind after walking through a city and being transformed by its light.

.

These five color profiles grew naturally out of real shooting experiences: the dusty, warm gold of New York streets; the misty cream of a Parisian morning; the saturated, sun-baked orange-red of Barcelona at noon; and the soft, quiet greenish-gray of Kyoto's bamboo groves. My hope is that this collection does more than just make your photos look good; I want it to help you hold onto the feelings that a city once gave you.

Compatibility & Equipment Guide

City Tones is compatible with RAW files from all camera brands and models. The color data for this collection was crafted using raw files from Leica and Hasselblad systems; therefore, when applied to images shot with these two systems, the color rendition and tonal gradations will most closely match the original design intent. It works beautifully on other camera brands as well (such as Sony, Canon, Fujifilm, etc.), though the results may vary slightly depending on the sensor's characteristics. For the best results, we recommend making minor adjustments to exposure and white balance after applying the preset.

The Process

Camera Forest City Tones V1 Preset

City Tones is far more than just a set of color filters. Grounded in a shared color foundation, each preset is individually optimized to reflect the unique lighting personality of five different cities—the dusty gold of New York streets, the misty cream of a Parisian morning, the sun-baked orange of Barcelona at noon, the soft gray of Kyoto’s bamboo groves, and the familiar warmth of Toronto. Every profile meticulously refines the black-and-white gradations, contrast structures, and the subtle breathing rhythm between highlights and shadows.

.

We have set up the Profiles in a format compatible with Presets, so you can simply click on Presets as usual.
