The Weight of Choice: From Abundance to Simplicity

Letting Go of the Wide-Aperture Obsession: The Photographic Rhythm I Found with the Hasselblad XCD 35-100mm f/2.8–4

"I used to believe that ultimate image quality lived only in prime lenses — until a trip to Korea, when my heavy bag made me realize: the freedom a photographer seeks is sometimes not a complete range of focal lengths, but continuity of observation."

This is a hands-on review of the Hasselblad XCD 35-100mm f/2.8–4 — but it is more than a gear review. It records how I stepped away from my obsession with wide-aperture blur, and rediscovered, in the rhythm of a zoom lens, the breathing room to capture light and shadow.

Dramatically Speed Up Your Lightroom Workflow

Camera Forest BW Preset

Camera Forest B&W Presets is a black-and-white preset pack designed for Lightroom. Black-and-white photography was never simply about "removing color" — it is a filter that goes straight to the soul. Drawing tonal inspiration from classic optics such as Leica and Hasselblad, this pack focuses on reshaping the layers of light and shadow and the delicate transitions between grays. Through Lightroom's powerful workflow, it helps photographers strip away the clutter of reality, focus on pure, raw emotion and the decisive moment, and create black-and-white images with a cinematic, master-level quality.

When the Street Becomes a Canvas: Reading the Poetry and Life of Everyday Toronto Through Photography.

From July to August this year, I spent two months in downtown Toronto. It was not a whirlwind sightseeing trip, but something closer to stopping, staying in the city, and living a slice of Canadian life. My walks often had no fixed destination — or rather, I would wander in one direction, getting to know the street corners on foot, my eyes always drawn to those unguarded moments flashing through light and shadow.

The People Behind the Lens

"If you love images woven from light and shadow, you simply have to come to New York yourself."

This was a personal trip. I brought a Leica M240 and a Leica SL3s to New York — a city I know a little, and miss a lot. I had packed three lenses, but once the Mandler 35mm F2 went on, it never came off. Perhaps this is a 35mm field-of-view challenge: portraying the people behind the lens from a different perspective.

A Few Thoughts on Color Tones

Leica SL3 + SL 50mm F2 APO + ZM 28

My early experience shooting film deeply shaped how I handle color. It is an intensely subjective preference, full of personal style. To me, the colors of film are images with texture. Whether the teal-green tones of Fujifilm or the warm sepia of Kodak, both left a deep impression on me. A subtle shift in color can give a photograph an entirely new beauty and atmosphere.
